복을 부르는 호랑이를 여러형태로 표현하면서  살아가는 것에 대한 이야기를 하고자 합니다.

삶을 살아간다는 것은 알수 없는 앞날에 대한 막연한 두려움의 연속이라 생각합니다. 마치 호랑이와 마주친것과 같은 공포로 느껴지기도 합니다.
그러나 자포자기 할 수 없는 것이기에 삶은 살아낸다고도 말할 수 있습니다.

절체절명의  위기의 순간에도 분명 기회는 있을것입니다.
호랑이는 무서운 존재지만 내가 아닌 다른 곳을 노려보며 나를 지켜줄 것이란 믿음.
두려움을 극복하고 넘어선 뒤에는 선물같은 복됨이 살아낸것의 보답으로 찾아 올것이라는 희망을 담아 보았습니다.


I would like to talk about living a life by expressing tigers, a good luck animal, in different ways.

I think that living a life is like a series of vague fear for the unknown future. It seems like the fear that arises in the moment of encounter with a tiger as well. However, since life should not be given up on, I could say that we manage to live a life.

Even in times of desperately dangerous crisis, there will definitely be a chance. The belief that tigers are scary but will glare at not me but the other sides to protect me.
These paintings have hope that blessing like a gift will come in return for managing to live a life after overcoming fear.

호랑이의 눈 Ⅱ

호랑이 귀 뒤에는 흰 점이 있는데 뒤에서 공격당하는 것을 막는 역할을 한다고도 해서 호랑이의 눈이라 부릅니다.
호랑이와 마주한 공포의 순간이 인생의 두려움과 같다고 생각합니다.
그 두려움과 맞서고 그 순간을 넘으면 반드시 선물처럼 복이 올 것이라 희망을 담고자 했습니다.

Eye of the Tiger Ⅱ

There is a white dot behind the tiger’s ear, which is called eye of the tiger since it says that the white dot prevents the tiger from being attacked from behind.

I think that the moment of fright when encountering a tiger is like a fear in life. This work contains the hope that if one faces and overcomes that fear, he or she will surely be blessed, just like taking a gift.

엄마

태어나서 가장먼저 배우는 말. ‘엄마’

우리네 어머니들의 자식을 향한 사랑(Mother’s Love, Maternal Love, 母情)을 호랑이의 용맹함 그리고 지혜로움으로 담았습니다.

인간이 호랑이 새끼를 구해주고, 그에 대한 보은으로 호랑이가 인간을 도와준다는 「어미 호랑이의 보은」이라는 설화가 우리의 이야기가되길 바래봅니다.

Eomma (Mama)

Mama—the first word babies learn and say after they are born.

It expresses maternal love with the bravery and wisdom of tigers.

Hope that a folk tale 「The Mother Tiger Returns」, in which people save a tiger cub and the mother tiger help them to return the favor, will be our story.

무동탄 호랑이 이야기를 아십니까?
호랑이 떼에게 잡아먹힐 위기 앞에 죽음을 각오한 나무꾼은 피리를 불었고, 무동탄 호랑이들이 춤을 추다 죽게 되어 그 가죽으로 큰 부자가 됐다는 이야기

흔들리는 기명도로 삶의 위기를 표현하고, 이를 복을 부르는 호랑이의 기운으로 극복할 수 있는 희망을 표현했습니다.
무동탄 호랑이 이야기처럼 위기의 순간에도 기회는 분명 있을 것이라는 생각을 담았습니다.

Beomgimyeong-do (Painting of Tableware with Tiger)

Have you heard about the story “Tigers climbing on top of one another”?

A woodcutter in the risk of being preyed on a group of tigers, ready to die, played the pipe. Hearing his play, the tigers climbing on top of one another died while dancing, and finally, he survived, sold all the tigers’ skin, and became very rich.

The swayed tableware represents a crisis in life, and the hope of overcoming it with the energy of a blessed tiger is expressed.
It has a belief that there is always an opportunity in the moment of crisis, just like the story “Tigers climbing on top of one another.”

산수호도

산수호도

다양한 곳에서 서식하고, 척박한 환경에서도 생존할 수 있는 지의류는 공존과 상생을 의미합니다.

주로 단독생활을 하는 호랑이에 지의류를 입혔습니다.

각각의 호랑이가 어우러져 태산같은 견고한 신뢰를 이루듯이, 우리의 삶 또한 다양한 공존과 상생의 관계가 이루어 지기를 소망해 봅니다.

Sansuho-do

Lichens that inhabit in various places and even survive under poor environments mean coexistence and cohabitation.

Tigers, which are solitary animals, are clothed in lichens in this work.

Hope that we create various relationships based on coexistence and cohabitation just as each tiger in this work builds up trust as solid as a great mountain.

범기명도 : 모란

복을 담은 그릇 ‘기명도’를 호랑이가 품고있는, ‘범기명도’의 두번째 이야기입니다.

범기명도에 “모든 꽃의 왕[百花王]”, 부귀의 상징인 모란이 피어있습니다.

요즘처럼 힘든 시기에 모든이의 삶에 풍성하고 풍요로움이 가득차기를 바라는 마음을 담았습니다.

Beomgimyeong-do : Peony

This is the second story of “Beomgimyeong-do,” which depicts a tiger that embraces “gimyeong-do,” a painting of tableware with good fortune.

Peonies, the “king of flowers” and the symbol of wealth, are in bloom in this work.

It has a desire for affluence and abundance in everyone’s life during difficult times like these days.

수복도

글자위에 그림을 더하여 표현한 것이 특징인 문자도를 호랑이 그림위에 역으로 올려 글자를 문양으로써 표현해 본다.
그림의 일부분으로 글자를 표현하여 장식적 글자가 아닌 그림으로써의 문자 표현이라 하겠다.

Subokdo

Subokdo is a special character used in Korean traditional folk painting, it is used to represent Chinese letters.
I would like to express Chinese letters called Moonjado, as inverse patterns on my tiger’s painting.
It is not only for decorative purposes, but instead serves as an expression of letters that represent Chinese characters, as seen in my drawing.
